This tough wooden toy can be bent into a variety of shape to make a hideaway or tunnel. Its very resilient so can be left out as a permanent feature for your bunny to shelter under and jump on. Make sure you get one that s big enough for your rabbit such as thes Trixie Flexible Wooden Bridge. We always have a few of these about as they are heavy enough to be placed over carpet theat is being tugged up or rested up against base boards and door frames that to stop them being chewed.

2 Flexible tunnel

3.7/5

Average price £6

These corrugated plastic tubes are tough and can be stretched out and bent into lots of interesting shapes then can be collapsed down neatly so can be easily packed away. They make a good additional toy to bring out into an area. They are also OK for use outside as the plastic material is water proof. They are very hard wearing so can be left out. They come in a variety of bright colours such as green or purple like this Flexible Tunnel. We found because they are quite light they to tend to slide around quite a bit especial on a hard surface and can make quite a lot of noise. The plastic is quite thin and can also be chewed so you will need to keep an eye on how much if any is being eaten.

3 Flexible landscape drainage piping

3/5

Average price $30

A novel alternative to providing some enrichment to outside environments is to re-purpose some 150mm or 6inch flexible landscaping drainage piping. This is make of a tough plastic material designed to weather the outdoors and the heavy material means it can be left outside without being blown around the yard. It can be used on its own although its best to chopped up to make a number of smaller tubes. Some ways of using this include burying it under a mound of soil to make a permanent warren feature or using it as a walk way to connect hutches and pens together.

4 Coated chew tubes

3/5

Average price £10

These cardboard tubes can come coated in a variety of materials such as Alfalfa or Hay. They also come in a range of sizes so ensure you get one that is suitable.Living World Alfalfa Chew Tube. We found they did make quite a bit of mess as the coating break off and it did ware thin pretty quickly so was not much better then a regular chew tube. We also discovered they where impossible to clean if they get soiled, however they are relativity cheap to replace.

Final verdict

"Better then a simple tube but can leave a little bit of mess."

5 Chew tube

3/5

Average price $8

Most pet shops stock cardboard tubes as they are very popular, they are relatively inexpensive and often come in attractive colours and designs. You can leave them out for your rabbit to play in and nibble on. Get a large cardboard tube like this one. Kaytee Large Chewbular Play TubeIt It didn't take long for out rabbit rabbit to start stripping the layers of paper of which did leave some mess however they are really tough so it still lasted a long time. We preferred this simple type to the ones you can buy with coating of Yay or Alfalfa as they don't prove to be much more attractive and made a lot more mess.

6 Activity tunnel

2.7/5

Average price $18

There are a range of cloth tubes available as they are a very common toy for cats but are now available for rabbits as well. They are a good alternative to cardboard chew tubes as they are bigger and do look a bit more attractive however if you rabbit does choose to chew the fabric they could end up looking tatty and you may need to remove them if they eat significant amounts as this can be harmful. Make sure it is specifically for rabbits like this one. Living World Pet Tunnel We liked this toy as it was good to bring out when we wanted to enrich an areas our bunny uses when supervised. We would not however feel comfortable leaving it in a pen where we have cardboard tube as we don't mind there being chewed.

7 Snuggle tunnel

2.7/5

Average price £14

As the name suggests snuggle tunnels are a combination of a pet bed and a tunnel. They have soft padded sides and base which would keep your rabbit insulated from a cold floor and the base is more stable then a thinner cloth tunnel so more comfortable for your bunny to nest in. Always check that it's not designed for cats and is suitable for bunnies like the Boredom Breaker Snuggles Tunnel. These toys are often quite small so may be better for smaller breads but the addition of a two exits is friendlier then tend design as bunnies often like a back door. They are also machine washable which is great as areas where bunnies nest in can get a bit messy over time.

9 Grassy tunnel

2.3/5

Average price $11

Grassy tunnels are perfect for playing in and chewing. The soft edible material is much more suitable if digested then other tubes made form plastics cloth or paper and the naturally woven materials don't contain any glues or dies. OXBOW PET Timothy Club Tunnel The main drawbacks we found with this sort of toy was it did get a bit messy and the grass ended up being walked about. If you want to give your rabbit a treat and don't mind the mess then this is the great natural toy.

2.2/5

Average price $9

Ideal as a hideaway for playing in and the soft twigs are ideal for chewing to this toy is guaranteed to get a lot of attention. Make sure you buy one from a pet store like this Ware Willow Twig Tunnel rather then using home decoration which often come treated with varnish or flame resistant chemicals. The only draw backs is they can be a bit expensive and if your bunnys like ours and likes to chew then it probably wont last very long and leave some mess. However our bunny absolutely love it so we pick a new one up every so often.
